Good to know before investing in Luxembourg
- Legal ceiling: the annual rent of an unfurnished home cannot exceed 5% of the capital invested (price, deed costs and improvement works, revalued and discounted for wear and tear); for a furnished let, a furniture supplement is possible.
- No “Bëllegen Akt” tax credit for a purchase intended for letting: it is reserved for the main residence.
- Tax: the rent, less loan interest, expenses and depreciation, is added to taxable income at the progressive rate. The 6% accelerated depreciation reserved for purchases in 2024 and the first half of 2025 was not renewed; a new regime (6% for six years, base up to €600,000 per building) was announced in July 2026, subject to the law being voted.
Rules checked in October 2026.
